the Rocky Gap Horse Trails intertwine within the Sumter National Forest along the beautiful, federally protected Wild and Scenic Chattooga River offering primitive mountainous type terrain. Small creeks and waterfalls abound along the trails and there are 3 major ford crossings on the river-Adeline, Big Island and Earls Ford. Book your stay with us and cross the river on your hoofed companion, directly from our property without ever venturing onto paved roads! Direct access, no trailering required to get on these trails. Access begins on a gravel forrest service road, leading to a grassy forrest service road and connecting into the Rocky Gap Trail system up on top of the mountain. The trails have some rocky areas mostly down near the river. There is a fair amount of elevation change between the trail head and the river but switchbacks provide gradual grade change. We recommend shoes or boots, whichever your equine is accustomed to.

Whether you are visiting to horseback ride the Rocky Gap Horse Trails, fish the Chattooga or Chauga Rivers, whitewater raft, kayak or hike, you will be in a central location for all the outdoor adventures that the upstate has to offer.  If riding, leave your cares behind when you get back from your days adventures knowing your horse is comfortable in our barn or paddocks. We offer RV spots, each with hitching posts, water and 30 amp power.

Our Charleston, Whetstone or Hunters Hideout rooms/suite are available for those that prefer more of the comforts of home.
